The Walkmen cover "Holiday Road"

The Walkmen cover "Holiday Road"

The A.V. Club is doing Holiday Undercover. They put out a master list of songs and simply asked bands to come and play a song--with two rules: It had to be a cover, and it had to somehow be holiday related. The Walkmen came up with an excellent choice: Lindsey Buckingham's "Holiday Road," which you'll surely recall from its use in the movie Vacation. If you don't already have the latest Walkmen album, Lisbon, then you are crazy and you hate good music. Oh, and Holiday Undercover will run Tuesdays and Thursdays from now until the end of the month, except for one special week when it will run Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Happy holidays, and enjoy.

YelaWolf – Pop The Trunk (Bones & Vocal Version)

Yelawolf "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" from Yours Truly on Vimeo.

Yelawolf has been steadily upping his reputation within the industry during the past few months. However, plenty of his followers are not aware of the artist’s moving past. In order to fill the world in, YoursTruly met up with the rapper. The footage shows Yela’s return Peoples Park in Berkeley where he spent twelve month as a mostly homeless skateboarder. In addition, the clip follows him to the studio at Different Fur, where he created a bones and vocals only version his “Pop The Trunk”-single. Watch and find our above while streaming below. Is This a Hoax?

NBC DFW ran a story today on their website about the Corinth Park Studios that got vandalized last weekend, which were part of the 8th Annual Cedar Open Studios Tour. The owner decided to turn the crime scene into an art scene.

View more news videos at: http://www.nbcdfw.com/video.

Here's my take on it. If you destroy a Picasso, that Picasso no longer has value. The same should be applied in this case. The art that was destroyed in this place should no longer be of any value. The "art" here being sold is part of a criminal investigation. Only a money-hunger person would turn such crap (literally since one of the objects being sold is a vandalized toilet with concrete in it) into something that is suppose to be valuable. Modern art scene can be very wack sometimes. It seems to me that the owner saw an opportunity to receive insurance money and sell these "art pieces" by destroying his own property. Or I could be completely wrong and say that this guy actually turned something negative into something really profitable and positive. Not my place, not my art, whatevs...

Christmas Wish List

It might be too early, but not for me. When I was young, around this time, my mother used to hand me down the JCPenny's catalog so I could choose my Christmas presents. Then I would cut out the pictures, write a letter, and put it in an envelope. I would then stamp it and send it off with the address: The North Pole. Now I have this weird routine of going through websites and saving what I want as bookmark on my browser. Here's a few so far.
The PHONEKERCHIEF is made of a smart material that actually blocks phone signals and can be worn in any pocket as a symbol of this movement. (On sale Nov. 25th).

Let's be honest, we all love boobs. Big, small, firm, floppy, black, white, brown, real, or fake. We just can't get enough of 'em. They are very distracting (boobie trap), and sometimes very scary. But whatever your taste and the case might be, this 3DD Book is going on my Christmas List, no doubt. With a free pair of stylish plastic aviator 3D glasses, you can't go wrong.

"We might have pointed out that the beautiful images of natural breasts in all shapes and sizes are a wonderful celebration of real women in all their glory. Or we could have reveled in the universal truth that looking and talking about boobs is just a lot of fun.

But that would be to complicate something that can be said in four words.

Boobs in 3-D

Enjoy."

Art Weekend Madness

This past weekend I attended a couple, meaning two, art shows. Friday was the Temporary Collective at The Continental Gin Building, where a good friend, Ricardo Paniagua , had some awesome art and some ever more awesome chips and dips. The building is an old historic landmark at the edge of Deep Ellum that is full of studio space where great art creation takes place.

Some really interesting people. Yup, that is Cow Goddess craving some grapes.

This was a clever installation.

The show was fun, the treats were great, but it sucked when I ran out of gas. I had to give Ricardo 5 bucks for some gas he had laying around, just so I could get home that night.

Then Saturday it was the big event, Artopia. The event wasn't your usual gallery show. This was like a scientific fusion between night life and art.

Carlos Donjuan, from the Sour Grapes crew, doing some live painting. His paintings just got featured in the New American Paintings issue.

Wheat paste installation by Brent.

Live print making. There were giving these out FOR FREE! Thanks Public Trust

Aaron Aguirre, from Diverse Soul, making moves.

I accidentally met the creative genius behind Fur Face Boy, who by the way, just like Manny Pacquiao, won the night's match (t-shirt match!). He's a really cool cat with a great line of t-shirts, one which I'm putting on my Christmas wish list. Check out his blog, check out his line.

The Temporary Collective Show

Ricardo Paniagua
has this going on...

"As creatives, to exemplify solidarity is to reflect strength. A truly creative being should be an example for society, not ruled by the influences of institutions."

Present will be new, known, and well-known artists, all of high measure.

"The Temporary Collective will be an excellent and nearly unmatched (regionally) group of artists to show simultaneously with the annual Open Artists Studios event at The Continental Gin Company ...Building in Deep Ellum underneath the constellation of Sagittarius."

Join us tonight. Sponsored by Brooklyn Brew.

Pacquiao vs Margarito

Saturday Nov. 13. @ Cowboys Stadium. Better than a Dallas Cowboys game that's for sure.

Roberto Marroquin is supposed to be something special. The 20-year-old from Oak Cliff attends Northwood University in Cedar Hill, wants to get his accounting degree from SMU and, oh by the way, is one of Top Rank Boxing's best rising fighters.

With a record of 16-0 and trained by Pacquiao's man, Freddie Roach, Marroquin will fight on Saturday night's undercard.

Who is Preface?

If you ask me, he's an artist. He just dropped a new single "Full Attack" produced by his sidekick Plex Luger. Together they cooked up this track full of swag.
